Retrievable scaffold for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease.

Spur is a system composed of an over-the-wire balloon catheter, compatible with 0.014” guidewires, and a retrievable nitinol scaffold that is easily identifiable thanks to radiopaque markers. It is indicated for vessel preparation during the treatment of infrapopliteal lesions, including restenosis, in vessels with reference diameters ranging from 2.5 to 4.5 mm.

Designed for guidewire advancement under fluoroscopy, Spur is positioned in the target vascular segment, which has been previously pre-dilated with a PTA balloon catheter. Once the lesion is reached, the scaffold is deployed and the balloon is inflated, allowing the 112 micro-needles (“spikes”) on the surface of the stent to exert a direct mechanical action on the vessel wall. This action modifies the compliance of the vessel wall, reducing the risk of recoil and optimizing drug absorption.

After treatment, the balloon is deflated and the device is retrieved into the integrated protective shaft, allowing it to be reused up to four times in the same patient. Once vessel preparation is completed, a drug-coated balloon (DCB) may be used.
